Peter Agris Memorial Scholarship
Available to students of Greek-American
ancestry who are enrolled full-time as
journalism or communications majors at

accredited college of university in the U.S.

community, and church organizations and
demonstrate a minimum 3.0 GPA and
financial need. It is a $5,000, non-
renewable annual scholarship given by the Alpha Omega Council, founded by the late Peter Agris, at the group's annual Lifetime

Savvidis Memorial Fund
Applicants must be members of the
Cranston, Rhode Island Greek Orthodox
Church community and enrolled at any
type of school of higher learning for
September 2001 (vocational, technical,
college or university). Awards are
decided based on scholastic standing,
participation in our parish life and after
school activities. Applications may be
obtained from the parish office. Deadline
is May 24, 2002. Those having received
the scholarship twice are excluded.
AHEPA Scholarship--Rhode Island
district. Applicants must be members in
good standing of AHEPA, Daughters of
Penelope, Maids of Athena, or Sons of
Pericles, or the son or daughter of a
member in good standing, to be eligible
for any of the various scholarships through
the AHEPA District and local Scholarship

Dion Scholarships
St. Paul’s Parish of Hempstead, NY,
offers some 25 scholarships to Greek
Orthodox youth living in a 250-mile
radius of New York. Awards are granted
based on academic merit, economic

The Hellenic University Club of N.Y.
Annually offers scholarships to students
and researchers of Hellenic ancestry, both

10% of class or have over 1100 SAT
score and family income under $60K.

Graduate: the Dr. Valergakis Research
Grant (several) is presented annually to
researchers and graduate students of
Hellenic ancestry who are studying
Medical Biological or Social Sciences

Grant (1) is presented annually to a
researcher who is studying Classical and

Gioles Scholarships
The George and Naouma (Gioule) Gioles
Scholarship Fund of the Greek Orthodox
Archdiocese of America awards
scholarships annually, established in 1997
with a generous gift in memory of George
and Naouma Gioles. Award amount $1500. Selection of the recipients will be based on the following criteria: 1) Recipients must be of the Greek Orthodox faith (with preference to those of Greek descent) and must be high school seniors at time of application or full-time matriculated students committee to serious study in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college of university. 2) Recipients must plan to attend or plan on continuing their studies at the college or university of their choice in the next academic year. 3) Recipients must provide required evidence to the Scholarship Committee of scholastic standing, including transcript records with a grade level of at least a B, 85 percent or 3.0 average. 4) Recipients who are high school seniors must have achieved and must provide proof of a combined SAT score of 1,000 minimum. If the SAT is not administered, another measure used by the academic community should be substituted.
5) Recipients must submit an application to
the Scholarship Committee and be
available for a interview at the Committee's
discretion. 6) Recipients must provide
evidence of financial need. Preference will
be given to candidates who are orphans
and to those who are undertaking studies in
the sciences, business and the arts, with
one scholarship reserved for a candidate
who has chosen to study journalism.

John S. Gioles Scholarship Fund
Fairfax County school system in Virginia; applicants limited to residents of this county. Award provides for full three-year scholarship to accredited, full-time
collegiate study. Awards granted during sophomore year of college. Applicants must fill out application, complete essay, send official transcript and provide three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must come from faculty of department offering intended major.
National Bank of Greece Research
Scholarship. Applications are invited for a
three year scholarship intended to allow a
candidate to register for a PhD. The focus
of the PhD research should be contem-
porary Greece and the topic may be within
Political Science, International Relations or
Political Economy. Preference may be
given to applications concerned with Public
Policy and/or the European Union. The
value of the award in 2002-3 covers
subsistence (£6,000) and registration fees.
Candidates will be expected to have
obtained an M.A./M.Sc in a relevant subject
before commencing the PhD. Candidates
should complete an application form
obtainable from the Hellenic Observatory by
sending an e-mail to
hellenicobservatory@1se.ac.uk. In addition,
candidates should submit a detailed
research proposal of 3-5 pages and the
names of three referees who may be
approached on a confidential basis. The
deadline for applications is 1st July (in
2002) and it is expected that the successful
candidate will be informed in August.
Kastorians Award Scholarships
The Kastorian Society of New York
Omonoia has awarded more than $40,000
in scholarships to college students. Some
scholarships have been offered to students
of Greek American high Schools and the
Saint Basil Academy. The society has also
offered scholarships to seven "flag
bearers" of Kastoria's high schools and to
two excellent student-members of the Greek
American Union in Kastoria. The Union was
founded by Kastorians who returned to their
native land after having lived and worked in
the United States.
Daughters of Penelope National Scholarships
This women's auxiliary of the Order of
AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational
Progressive Association), established eight
new scholarships for the 2003-2004
academic year, two perpetual and six one-
year grants:
Paula J. Alexander Memorial Scholarship
Perpetual. Established in memory of the
late Paula Alexander, a 50-year member of
the DOP Chapter 5, Sacramento, CA and
Chapter 119, Hollywood, CA, and a past
Grand Lodge officer. She was a
communicant of the St. Sophia Greek
Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles and a
daughter of Fotini Mousmoules and the late
George E. Johnson, a past supreme vice
president of AHEPA and a facililitator of the
first Greek-American Educational Exchange
Student program in 1968. Endowment
made possible by an $18,000 contribution
from family members Eppaminonda (Eppie)
Johnson, brother; Richard Bruce, son;
Demetrios Bruce, son. Awarded annually to
a young woman in pursuit of an under-

The Big Five Scholarship, Perpetual
Scholarship honors five friends who have served the Daughters of Penelope at Past Grand Presidents. Paideia Scholarship to Study in Greece
The Center of Hellenic Studies "Paideia"
announces the availability of a scholarship
for students wishing to study at the
University of the Aegean in Rhodes for
either the Fall or Spring semesters for the
2003-2004 school year. The total cost for
each semester is $5500 and covers tuition,
course and registration fees, room and
board and various student activity fees.
Towards the $550 cost, Paideia will pay the
amount of $2000 bringing the total cost for
the semester to $3500.The courses will be
taught in English by regular professors of
Greek universities and all credits overseas
in an official University of Rhode Island
program are recorded as direct URI credits.

Paideia Program in Greece for Children
The historic city of Delphi, in cooperation
with the Greek government, is offering a
hospitality program to 25 Greek-American
young people for 3 weeks at Delphi from
July 28 to August 16th.The program will
include entertainment, athletics, tours to
important sites of classical civilization and
education studies. Participation includes
young people of ages 8-12, 13-17, and
18-25. Children 8-12 will be escorted by a
chaperone from Paideia and all participants
will have all their expenses covered
including round trip airfare. For more

Island of Lesvos Association Annual
Scholarship 2003. Annual scholarship for
students headed to a four-year institution of
higher learning. Applicants must be from
families who are paid members of the
Island of Lesvos Association and who are
living in the New England area. Two grants
of $500.00 each will be awarded in 2003.
Winners will be chosen based on academic
merit and a written essay. The winners of
the scholarship will be acknowledged at the
Fall Dinner Dance, November 8, 2003 at
Jimmy's Allenhurst at which time they will
receive their awards. To apply, candidates
must complete the application below
carefully, making sure to include all required
information to avoid disqualification. Along
with the completed form, students must
submit a copy of their 2002-2003 transcript
of grades, a letter of acceptance from at
least one college, and an essay on one of
the following topics: a) For those of you who
have had the opportunity to visit Lesvos,
which aspects of the island struck you most
vividly? (For examples: its culture, people,
ruins, landscape, beaches, traditions, etc.)
b) For those of you who have not been
there, what do you envision it to be like from
what you have heard? c) How has your
Greek heritage enhanced your life? (For
example: its integration with your
extracurricular activities, personal strengths,
interests, etc.). The essay may be written
either in Greek or English and should not be
less than 800 typewritten words.

Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 for the education of Greek-American students, this 501(c)3, tax-exempt fund awards approximately $150,000 yearly to deserving students. Since its establishment, this fund has awarded more than 1 million dollars to 400 students. The fund receives about 1,000 applications yearly for its awards. Applicants may be either graduate or undergraduate students, but must be of Greek descent and between the ages of 17 and 25 as of May of the year of application. Students receiving a full scholarship from any other source, or a partial scholarship exceeding half of their annual tuition are ineligible. Awards made based upon need and merit. Hellenic Professional Society of Texas Annual Scholarships
Established in 1977, the scholarship fund of the society has awarded more than one hundred scholarships to students from Greece and Cyprus or thos of Greek descent attending universities in Texas. AHEPA National Scholarships
The Educational Foundation of the Order of AHEPA identified recipients for a variety of unique scholarships, as it works with AHEPA's 25 districts. Each award ranges from $1000--$2000 and is made possible by an AHEPA scholarship fund in excess of $1 million. National scholarships available include:
Nick Cost Scholarship for graduate-level studies. Each year students are selected to receive awards up to $4000 maximum. Final selection made by the family of Mr. Cost.
George Leber Scholarship. Named in memory of a past Executive Secretary of the AHEPA, the award may be granted to more than one student. Amount $500--$1000.
Stergios B. Milonas Scholarship for active Sons of Pericles. Names in memory of a past Supreme Lodge member of the Sons, a committee of Sons Supreme Lodge helps screen applicants. Amount $1000.
Sam Nakos Memorial Scholarship. Sam Nakos of Birsmingham, Alabama, donated the principle to help unfortunate students. Candidates for this award are selected by their local district scholarship committee. Amount $1000.
Carlos Touris Scholarship for worthy and needy students. Half of the award goes to a student at Hellenic College/Holy Cross Theological Seminary. The other half goes to a qualified college student who attended high school in Krestena, Olympis, Greece.
Dr. John C. Yavis Trust for graduates of the upper high school in Vitina, Arcadia, Greece. This scholarship is based on need, and must be awarded to a student pursuing medical, technical, nursing, or law studies.
Sam Dakis Memorial Scholarship created in memory of Sam Dakis who served the AHEPA for many years. Amount $1000.

Established many decades ago, this professional society has routinely awarded scholarships since its inception. Stavros J. Costopoulos Scholarships in Byzantine Studies at the University of Oxford
Established in 1998, this permanent scholarship is awarded in memory of Stavros Costopoulos. Stavros J Costopoulos Scholarships. Up to two post-graduate scholarships are available for students taking up a place at Oxford to read for the MSt, MPhil or DPhil in the field of Byzantine Studies. The scholarship, open to home and overseas students, will cover University and college fees and maintenance, and is available for one year in the first instance. One studentship is reserved for citizens of Greece and the Republic of Cyprus.

Foundation awards fellowships and grants for Greek citizens (not dual US/Greek citizens or US citizens) to conduct post-graduate work in the U.S. and for the exchange of university professors. This fund awards thirteen to fifteen scholarship awards of $1,000 each given to qualified applicants from the combined four endowments of the fund:

Aegean Center for the Fine Arts Scholarships
This progressive educational center has been operating for about 40 years, based in Paros and in Italy near Florence. It offers six scholarships and tuition grants and workstudy positions.
The John Van Buren Endowment Scholarship--open to all students in any discipline at any level of proficiency. Amount varies between 1,000 and 2,000 Euros. Applicants must submit a written statement addressing desire for learning in the environment the Aegean Center provides. If an advanced student, will be required to submit 10 to 15 images of work in visual arts and/or 4 samples of writing.
The Jean Polyzoides Scholarship--designated for the (Greece only) Spring Session. Provides a 1,000-Euro assistance scholarship. Applicants must submit written statement of need and intention and be accompanied by 10 to 20 slides or the same number of images via the Internet--preferably in Adobe PDF format of own work. For writers, copies of recent work must accompany a personal statement of intention.
The Olivetti Scholarship--designated for the Italy Session only. Awarded to one or two deserving intermediate or advanced students involved in any discipline of study offered at the Center and will be selected by the Aegean Center staff. Personal statement of intention must accompany 12 to 20 slides of applicant's work. For writers, copies of recent work must accompany a personal statement of intention.
The Yannis Kaparos Scholarship--A 1,000-Euro scholarship awarded to a continuing student who chooses to do some work in response to the natural landscape in any medium, including writing. Applicant must submit written statement of need and intention, along with a few samples of work if not a beginning student.
The Brett Taylor Printing Scholarships--four awards yearly of 1,000 Euros, based on merit and granted to intermediate and advanced students who submit 12-20 slides, or the same number of images via the Internet--preferably in Adobe PDF format--of recent work with a personal satement of artistic intention.
The Joann Stephenson Scholarship--a 1,000-Euro assistance scholarship offered to anyone in any discipline on the basis of merit and financial need. Applicant must submit written statement of need for such assistance as well as their artistic intention while at the Center. Samples of work may be requested for this award.
Tuition Grants--made available directly through the Aegean Center. These are reductions of tuition payment in the form of grants. Available to any student at any level of proficiency in any field of study who can demonstrate by way of a written statement their need for such assistance as well as their artistic intention while at the Center.
Work Study positions are available on a straight per hour work exchange for a reduction in tuition payment. Work study positions are limited and given on a first-come-first-serve basis evalulated upon need. Applicants must submit written statement of need and intention.
Because of restricted enrollment numbers in programs, applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Established by the donor, an alumnus, in appreciation of the opportunities a Wentworth education gave him. Eleni Gatzoyiannis Scholarship at Boston University
Established in 1985 by Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, author, and film producer Nicholas Gage, an alumnus of BU, as a memorial to his mother's struggle and martyrdom during the Greek Civil War so that her 3 children could emigrate to the U.S. to join their father. Applicants must be of Greek birth or ancestry, must have completed at least one full semester of study at BU, have a strong academic record, and appreciable financial need. Mary Isabel Sibley Annual Fellowship
The annual Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowship is
awarded alternately in the fields of [Classical] Greek and French. The award may be used for the study of Greek language, literature, history, or archaeology, or the study of French language or literature.The Fellowship has a stipend of $20,000. The stipend will be paid in two installments, the first on July 1 of the award year, and the second on the next January 1, unless the Fellowship Committee orders the stipend withheld because the Fellow has disregarded the purpose of the award as stated by the donor. Candidates must be unmarried women between the ages of 25 and 35 (inclusive) who have demonstrated their ability to carry on original research. They must hold a doctorate or have fulfilled all the requirements for a doctorate except the dissertation, and they must be planning to devote full-time work to research during the Fellowship year. Vonetes-Vartelas Family Scholarship,

member of either the St. Barbara church
or the Holy Trinity church. The award is
given on the basis of financial need and
service to the church and community.
Eugene and Kathryn Lightle Scholarship,
awarded annually to a student from the
parish of Saint Barbara on the basis of
academic merit and financial need.
Hellenic College/Holy Cross
Scholarship, awarded annually to a student
who is a member of St. Barbara Greek
Orthodox Church and who is entering, or is
already studying for the priesthood at the
Hellenic College/ Holy Cross School of
Theology. The scholarship may be also
awarded to a graduate from the Holy
Cross School of Theology who is entering
or continuing postgraduate studies in a
religious discipline at an accredited
institution, and is a member of Saint
Barbara Greek Orthodox Church.
The Evdos, Alexandra and Clara Genetos Scholarship Scholarship was established in 2001 by the Genetos Family and is a reflection of their lifelong and devoted commitment to the community of Saint Barbara. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student from the parish of Saint Barbara on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
The Kledaras Family Scholarship was established in 2002 by the Kledaras family to perpetuate the memory of their parents, George and Mary Kledaras, brother Stanley and sister Georgene. They were all lifelong members of the Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student from Saint Barbara’s parish on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
The Brenda Antonellis Scholarship was established in 2002 by the Antonellis family to honor the memory of Brenda Antonellis. It is awarded annually to a student from the Church of Saint Barbara, on the basis of academic merit, service to church and community, and intent to pursue studies in education.
The Peter and Tekla Vartelas Scholarship was established in 2002 to memory of Peter's parents, John and Paraskeve Vartelas. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student from the Saint Barbara Church, or the Holy Trinity Church of Ansonia, on the basis of the student's academic merit, need, service and athletic participation.
The Erickson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 by Harry and Jane Hajedemos and family to honor the memory of Jane's parents, Victor Theodore and Beverly Nelson Erickson. It is awarded annually to a college or post-graduate student with intent to pursue a degree in Engineering, Nursing, Medicine, or any other health or science-related field of study. This scholarship is awarded to a parishioner of Saint Barbara on the basis of service to the church community and academic merit.
The George C. Morris Scholarship was established in 2004 by the Morris family to honor and perpetuate the memory of George, a faithful and devoted servant of the church and community of Saint Barbara for most of his life. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student from Saint Barbara, on the basis of participation in the church's educational programs and service to church and faith.

The Papoutsy Futures Fund
Established to provide funds to selected students at the middle school age in the seacoast area of New Hampshire who have been identified as at risk by school authorities. Applications must come from the guidance office of a state-approved school. Preference given to students of Hellenic background whose families have been active in local Greek Orthodox parishes and in Greek-American fraternal and cultural organizations. Awards not made every year. Along with application form from school officials, parents and students must submit accompanying information.
Alexandra Demosthenes Scholarship
Established recently, this scholarship was created through a bequest to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dover, New Hampshire. Awarded annually to full-time college student chosen on basis of financial need and academic achievement. Parents of student must be members in good standing of Annunciation community. In addition to application form available in spring, applicants must submit current transcript, FAFSA (Student Aid Report), and one-page letter detailing why interested in attending college, need for financial aid, why feel worthy of award, goals, plans for achieving goals, listing of all awards and achievements, listing of extracurricular activities and accomplishments. Established in 1978, this fund helps Greek-American medical students develop as leaders in the next generation. Gerondelis Foundation Scholarships
Awards multiple scholarships annually to eligible first-year college students. Eligible students reside or attend school in Essex County (Massachusetts) and are a member of a graduating class of any public or private high school, rank in the upper fifteen percent of class or have achieved combined verbal and math score of at least 1200 on SAT I, be officially admitted to a four-year college or university, and be of at least one-fourth Greek lineage. Applicants must submit completed application form, certified copy of high school transcript which reflects SAT I scores and class rank at least through first half of applicant's senior year, and letter of admission to a four-year college or university. All qualified applicants in any year will receive scholarships in equal amounts; amount will vary yearly depending on the number of qualified applicants. Foundation plans to distribute between $60,000 and $100,000 annually. Awards carry no work or repayment requirements and are made directly to students who present foundation with a paid bill for the first semester's tuition and other charges. Greek Orthodox Folk Dance and Choral Festival Scholarships
The FDF Memorial Scholarship is awarded to outstanding individuals of the Metropolis of San Francisco who participate in the FDF in the year of application and are recommended by their parish priest. FDF Dance Scholarships to Greece is awarded to deserving FDF dance instructors to learn well-researched traditional Greek folk music, song and dance from qualified professional instructors in Greece. Eligible instructors must have demonstrated outstanding Christian fellowship in their communities, a long-term future commitment to teaching folk dance groups within the Diocese, and act as ambassadors from the Diocese of San Francisco and help promote cooperation between the FDF and sister Greek folklore organizations. All applicants musts be FDF dance directors who are members in good standing in the Greek Orthodox Church (or their parents) and have participated in FDF. Recipients must submit proof of health and insurance that will cover them in Greece for duration of seminar, as well as obtain/renew their own passports. Recipient will also be required to take a video camera and record as much of the instruction as possible, (see organization website for additional requirements about taping and subsequent processing of video.) and write article about experience for OLI MAZI newspaper for upcoming FDF festival.Underage participants must have signature of parents. The award will provide for airfare, dance instruction and room and board in attending the Greek seminar. Deadline 15 May. FDF Musical Apprenticeship Scholarships
awarded to deserving FDF participants to give them the opportunity to learn a traditional Greek folk instrument from qualified musicians. Scholarship terms and conditions must stress group and public performance to ensure success. Eligible candidates must demonstrate outstanding Christian fellowship in their communities, commitment to the FDF program, do not have either access to or the resources to pay qualified musicians, must made a long-term future commitment to playing traditional Greek music for their community and for the greater FDF community, must be (or their parents) members in good standing in the Greek Orthodox Church, and have participated in FDF. Two scholarships awarded. Applicant identifies instrument of choice and committe identifies candidate instructors. Applicants must own instrument wish to learn before lessons begin and have some prior knowledge in instrumental music such as school or private lessons, ability to read music, etc. Scholarship funds must be used to offset either travel expenses or teaching fees. Recipients will practice with instructor's band on a regular basis during period of scholarship and play selections learned with instructor's band. Recipients will also play at non-FDF events at the discretion of the band. At FDF events or dance group performances, recipients will play gratis, reimbursed only for expenses for 2 years after end of apprenticeship. Cassette tape containing music learned and played by recipient also required. Deadline 15 May. Foundation for Hellenic Studies Scholarships and Grants
Established in 1995, this foundation operates under the auspices of the American Hellenic Institute. Its objective is to provide support to qualified individuals, institutions, programmes, and projects advancing the study of Greece and Cyprus in the United States. The foundation offers support for dissertation research and writing grants, publication grants, travel support for established Greek scholars traveling to the U.S. for lectures and/or conference participation, workshops and conferences, matching seed money for programs of Greek studies, library grants, teaching aid grants, grants for selected projects.
Awards to Individuals
Travel Grants--for post-doctoral and established scholars traveling from Greece or Cyprus to the U.S. to present papers on topics of significane to Greece or Cyprus at an international conference, or to lecture in the U.S. Maximum award is 50% of economy class airfare to the U.S. Deadlines: January 1, March 1, and September 1. Applications must include a complete CV in English; a copy of an official letter of invitation; a proposed itinerary; a copy of the official program; a copy of the ticket stub (economy class).
Dissertation Research and Writing Grants--designed to encourage Ph.D. students to pursue dissertations on a topic of importanc to Greece or Cyprus. A one-time grant with a maximum award of $5,000. Deadlines: January1 and September 1. Applications must inlcude a complete CV; letter of recommendation from the applicant's dissertation chair; a two-page detailed description of the approved dissertation project.
Publication Grants--provide subventions for manuscripts accepted for publication by a reputable scholarly press on a topic of importance to the study of Greece or Cyprus. MaximFor Maximum award amount $2,500 per one-time award. Additional requests may be considered in special cases. Deadlines: December 1, March1, and September 1. Applications must include authors' CV; copy of scholarly press contract; outline of the manuscript and a three-page detailed summary of the manuscript.
Association and Institutional Grants
Workshop and Conference Grants--provide matching grant support to university and/or association sponsored conferences focusing on a topic of importance to the study of Greece or Cyprus. Maximum award $5,000 per institution or association in a two-year period. Deadlines: December 1, March 1, and September 1. Applications must include full program description including panel topics, papers, and names and affiliation of participants; evidence of institutional or association financial support.
Support of Greek Studies Programs-matching seed money to support programs of Modern Greek Studies at an accredited college of university. Award amount of $5,000--10,000. A one-time award per institution. Deadlines: December 1 and March 1. Applications must include the CV of the project director and/or the faculty in the program; copy of the program budget; official statement of the university's financial commitment to the program and the actual amount of support.
Library Grants--for acquisition of books, journals, computer programs, and other material relating to the study of Greece or Cyprus. Maximum annual award of $2,000. Reapplications will be accepted depending on the nature of the institutional collection. Deadlines: December 1, March 1, and June 1. Applications must include CV of the librarian or project director; specific budget indicating the materials to be acquired; follow-up letter confirming the acquisition of the said materials.
Publication Grants--to support the publication of manuscripts accepted by scholarly presses on a topic of importance to Greece or Cyprus. Also support of major journals published in the U.S. with a focus on Greece or Cyprus. Award amounts of $2,500--5,000. Deadlines: December 1, march 1, and September 1. Applications must include author(s)' CV; copy of scholarly press contract for book and/or journal; outline of manuscript and three-page detailed summary of manuscript. For journals, include statement of journa's editorial policy, the composition of editorial board, and objectives of journal
Teaching Aids Grants--designed to produce or acquire teaching aids on study of Greece or Cyprus in order to improve institutional curriculum. Applications from public schools, universities and colleges considered. Materials involved include, but not limited to, computer programs, slides, maps, books, periodicals, etc. Maximum awards of $1,000 per institution. Repeat requests considered. Deadlines: December 1, March 1, and June 1. Applications must include CV of program director(s); institutional description; detailed three-page summary explaining how the acquisition of the materials will enhance institutional curriculum, how the program fits institutional objectives.
Other Small Grants--for the production or dissemination of informational material on topics of importance to the study of Greece or Cyprus, or other projects contributing to a better understanding of Greece or Cyprus. Awards made to institutions or individuals. Maximum awards of $2,500. Additional amounts may be considered depending on the proposed project. Deadlines: December 1 and March 1. Applications must include CV of program director(s); three-page summary of project, its anticipated outcomes, and how the project will benefit study of Greece or Cyprus.

Annual awards from the estate of Katina John Malta, established at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.Two scholarships available to Orthodox Christian students for the 2005-2006 academic year in the amount of $2,000 each. Joy G. Korologos Scholarship at The American College of Greece. Established in 2000 by Tom C. Korologos, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of The American College of Greece, and his family. Two awards given annually to matriculated students at the College, consisting of 100% tuition reduction. Open to both Deree and Junior College students. Eligibility requirements: applicants must be at least sophomores; have CI of 2.7 or better; maintain full-time status; demonstrate financial need.
Student Life Scholarship at The American College of Greece. Endowment fund established through an initial contribution from the Deree College Community Contribution Club. One award given annually to matriculated student at Deree College only, consisting of 50% tuition reduction. Renewal possible. Eligibility requirements: applicant must have completed 30 or more credit hours at Deree College; have a minimum CI of 2.7; participate and demonstrate leadership in sudent government, college committees, clubs, societies, or in his/her community.
Propeller Club Scholarship at The American College of Greece. One annual award to a matriculated business administration major student at Deree College. Renewal possible. Scholarship awarded at the end of the academic year. Eligibility requirements: applicant must be at least a junior at The College; excell in the School of Business Administration; maintain full-time status; be recommended by the dean and faculty; demonstrate financial need. For all scholarships or awards applicants must submit a completed Financial Assistance application form with a photo of applicant attached; relevent tax statements (see official website for details at http://www.acg.edu/deree/howapply.shtml); detailed letter explaining reasons for financial aid request. Additional documentation may be requested for: records of medical expenses; records of a mortgage loan for a primary residence; "studies certificate"; rent receipts; documentation relating to expenses incurred by children who are studying away from home. First-time applicants must make an appointment for a personal interview with the Dean of Students (Aghia Paraskevi campus, Room 309, tel. 600-9800, ext. 1328) prior to submitting their application. The Kytherian Society of California--Anastasia Conomos Condas Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to students of Kytherian descent in honor of Anastasia Conomos Condas, a long-time member of the Modern Greek Studies Foundation. Her dedication and love of her Greek heritage inspired many Greek Americans to study the rich history and culture of the first democracy. The Kytherian Society of California believes education embodies the spirit of all Kytherians, and offers this scholarship as a legacy of all members.. Applicants must be a resident of the state of California, between the ages of 17 and 25.and be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student in a Junior College, College, or University. Scholarship awards range from $750 to $1500. Applications are due June 1 of each year. Peter Cladianos, Sr. & Antonia Cladianos Memorial Scholarship for students of Greek ancestry at the University of Nevada, Reno. Greek immigrant and Reno grocer, Peter Cladianos Sr., was a pioneer in Nevada gaming. Beginning in the 1930s with the participation of his son Pete Jr. and others in the Cladianos family, Pete Sr. built a diversified business empire. Pete Cladianos, Jr. and his sister Katherine have established this scholarship in honor of their parents and the community that their parents loved. Recipients of this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Priority will be given to freshman students of Greek extraction. Only admitted University of Nevada, Reno students are eligible for this scholarship. Students are eligible to receive the scholarship each year that they maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or greater, for up to four years.
