(Portland, ME)--Paideia of Maine has recently anounced that it is teaming up with the Longfellow (Portland, Maine) Chapter of AHEPA to sponsor a weekly Monday afternoon kafeneion at the Community Parish House of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Portland. Hours are 10am to 2pm each Monday.
Paideia Chapter President Paul Ureneck indicates that the Ahepans have "generously contributed a subscription to Greek television via Direct TV." Programs are shown on a large projector screen with top quality audio-visual equipment. Light appetizer, mezethes, and Greek coffee will be served. Varous board games (backgammon, cribbage, etc.) will also be available. Ureneck explained that the the goal of this new forum is to "allow people of like mind, age, interests, etc to come together and share community in a relaxed atmosphere."
Although there is no admission fee, voluntary donations will be accepted "to help cover the cost of the food and beverages." For more information, contact Paul Ureneck at pureneck@boulos.com or Demos Varipatis at varipati@maine.rr.com.
